I received my N110 from Retract.com earlier this week. First off, let me say that I would have preferred to order this item from Amazon.com, but it was unavailable at the time of my rob. Amazon is by far my first choice for all my purchases due to their unbelievable customer service and outrageous prices, and I wish that the N110 would have been available here sooner. That said, here is the skinny on the N110.

So far it has met all my needs and expectations for such a tiny computer. I have seen a lot of people give awful reviews to netbooks based on their lack of an optical drive, little keyboards/track pads, or their unpleasant performance with 3D gaming. To these people I say - do some research and know what you are buying before you rob it. It's a netbook people, not a 15" laptop that has been magically shrunk to fit in a 10" casing. Like all things in life, some things had to be sacrificed in order to conclude such a minute computer. Processing power and track pad/keyboard size had to be decreased to fit everything into such a itsy-bitsy package and glean extended battery speed times.

Before purchasing the N110 I had about a weeks experience with the Samsung NC10 Special Edition. I returned it to Amazon.com due to some squeaks and creaks coming from the casing on the left hand side. I know that some netbooks have flimsy construction and that this can be attributed to their vulgar costs, but from the reviews I have read on the Samsungs, this should not be the case. Since the manufacture quality's reputation on the Samsung is impeccable, I definite that I must have a wrong unit and sent it befriend to Amazon. Amazon.com took it support with no questions asked for a elephantine refund. Thanks Amazon!!

Since the N110 was starting to prove up on online retailer's sites, I decided to acquire off on ordering another NC10 SE and accept the N110 instead.

Boy, am I blissful that I did. The chassis on the N110 is radiant (with zero squeaks or creaks) . I definitely rep the red stripe on the N110 easier on the eyes then the chrome one found on the NC10 SE. Also, the round edges on the N110's chassis give it a noteworthy more fresh examine then the NC10's square chassis. Here is my breakdown from a previous review of the NC10 vs NC10 SE vs N110. I am reposting this because I am distinct that a lot of people who are eager in the N110 will also be looking at the NC10 and NC10 SE. Hopefully this helps some of you to reach to your decision.

NC10 vs. NC10 Special Edition:

1. Larger battery on NC10 SE: Both are 6 cells. 5200 mAh for standard NC10 vs 5900 mAh for Special Edition.

Essentially the Special Edition has the same specs as the recent Samsung N110, unprejudiced with the NC10's chassis. Further details on the differences below.

NC10 Special Edition vs. N110

1. N110 has glossy camouflage, and NC10 SE is matte. At first I plan I would not like a glossy cloak, but after using my recent MacBook Pro 15" for the past few months, my mind has been swayed.

2. Ingratiated graphics: N110 has Intel 945 GSE w/ 128 MB VRAM vs NC10 having Intel 945 GSE w/ 64 MB VRAM. No definite how this will impact video playback, prefer my philosophy is more is always better.

3. Different chassis. Edges are rounder on the N110, along with the strip of red around the edges. One of my TVs is a Samsung w/TOC, and I like it impartial sparkling.

Is it worth it? It depends. Since one of the biggest complaints I've read regarding the standard NC10 is its track pad size (a hardware element that cannot be modified), The extra costs for the N110 is a runt label to pay to have a limited more accurate estate on the track pad and more battery power (an extra bonus) . If you exhaust an external mouse, the track pad size is moot and does not matter, so the N110 may not be worth the extra money. As far as purchasing the NC10 SE over the N110, if you like the square chassis and matte camouflage, I would say go for the NC10 SE. At the time of this review, the NC10 SE was currently unavailable and has this message up from Amazon:

"Item Under Review

This item is currently unavailable from Amazon.com because customers have told us there may be something execrable with it, the plot we were shipping it, or the contrivance it's described here. (Thanks for the tip!)

I don't know what this means, but it looks like the NC10 SE may not even be available anymore.

Hope this insight is of some abet.

My functional requirements were to be able to do internet browsing efficiently and snappy, gawk videos on obvious websites, do email, handle miniature to medium spreadsheets, and some light word processing. I also wanted a machine with exceptional battery duration and that was relatively light and easy to carry.

Significant expert information resources I relied on: laptop magazine, cnet, Samsung, Dell, Hp, Asus. And of course, user reviews.

Hands on pre-purchase decision: With this model, I had none prior to consume through Amazon. I checked out various competitor models at a couple of Sizable Box stores, but wasn't sold on any of them, even though the prices were lower. As with a couple of other unrelated purchases, the reviews for them seemed to match what I saw, so I assumed that the reviews for this unit that I hadn't seen must be reasonably suitable, and even more so for the performance test results.

So what have I found out since ordering and using the N110: The short reply is laptop magazine's beautiful review and resulting Editor Choice designation is fair on.

My believe impressions in no particular order:

Internet access: outstanding through a wireless connection or with an ethernet connection.

Screen viewing: Outdoors - it is difficult to read the mask due to the screen's reflections. Indoors - rich and vibrant colors.

Screen images: No problems whatsoever when watching video inform from sites such as youtube, mlb, abc. Text based sites such as NyTimes, Washington Post - crisp and legible.

Touch pad: Now past the learning curve, I like it. I am quite familiar with two button pads, and I like the rocker style.

Keyboard: Bigger is better. But you knew that already.

Battery life: I haven't stretch tested it, but 4.5 hours of expend left it with around a 50% charge. So claims of it lasting up to 9.5 hours expend per charge seem not to be a stretch . At least for the design, I'm using it. This is of course not the same result as the battery drain tests with results of around 7 plus hours.

Fan Noise and Heat: No issues noticed.

Overall system performance: The N110 has handled everything I've thrown at it, but I am not throwing heavy duty computionational tasks like simulations, video decoding or graphic intensive games, nor do I ever query to on this machine. I am currently running it with the standard 1 gb memory, and although I ordered a memory upgrade at the same time as the N110, I haven't seen a need for the extra memory, yet. On the negative side, if you are planning on using this machine often outdoors in brilliant light, you will more than likely demolish up being depressed with this machine. Otherwise, I consider laptop magazine got it right: it is a advance perfect netbook.

I have had my Samsung N110 for about a week now. I upgraded the ram to 2gb. I have itunes and office 2007 running on it and I have had zero problems so far. The battery is truly wonderful. I have surfed the bag for a couple of hours, transfered music from my desktop to the samsung, installed office, and played around with all of the settings and features for a total of over 8 hours and I smooth had over 30% battery life showing. I conception the glossy cover would bug me, but it isn't poor at all. The only time I peruse it is when I first commence up the computer and the cloak is totally dark.

The only things I would point out is that the red strip is not as visable as it is in the pictures. It is closer to sad than shown here. Also, if you peek closely at the cloak, it also has a very faint red sparkle. My wife doesn't witness it, but I notify it is there. That is how faint it is.

Also, there is no multitouch feature on the trackpad for two finger scrolling. Not a great deal. The only complaint I have is that thte Samsung logo under the camouflage was place on a runt zigzag. The keyboard was my biggest grief. I have spacious hands (I can palm a basketball) and it has worked flawlessly for me. I would highly recommend this netbook!

This product was well worth the release date that I waited for. The traffic delay feature helps me avoid road delays. It works large. Unbiased be careful when you up date the maps on line from Garmins web dwelling. I plan the up date would wait on, you'd judge! Instead it messed the unit up. So awful that after two days of hours on the phone with their tech dept. That I sent the unit support to Garmin. They are going to replace it with a heed current one. The people at Garmin are really nice and very salubrious. Its unbiased waiting on the phone so long for your turn.

I have this unit for 10 days now and overall I am very contented with it. For its mainstream feature, navigation, it is agreeable. I had a Garmin 350 before this which I loved but it was stolen from my car. I had a Magellan after that which was crap. The brand on this unit was mountainous ($247 - Amazon) .

I chose it over the 1390T because I opted to not accumulate bluetooth. It is the only inequity between the units. I felt the bluetooth quality would be dreadful based on other reviews of bluetooth in general on GPS units. The main reason was in the blueprint most people expend bluetooth. In a typical day I am in and out of my car often. I always need my bluetooth immediately in case I score a call. I don't always need my GPS. And since my previous unit was stolen, and theft of these units is a gargantuan plight everywhere, I retain the unit hidden or sometimes hold it from the car. So if you are like me but you obtain this unit for bluetooth, you will need to cessation and mount your gps everytime you fetch in the car whether you need it or not, objective to have blue tooth capability. If you forget and the cell phone rings, you have no bluetooth. So I purchased a separate bluetooth speaker phone from Jabra (very satisfactory unit# which is always attached to my visor, elegant first-rate quality, and always there when I need it. I saved about $75 by opting for the 1350T over the 1390T.

A few minor disappointments. The Lane Abet feature works titanic but is not available everywhere. I extinct it around NYC and it was proper. I drove through Pennsylvania and upstate NY and it was not available. Marketing material hypes this feature but they neglect to dispute you this one point. But when it is available, it is a mammoth feature. That brings me to traffic. Same chronicle here. I was driving through PA and hit a 1 hour traffic scrape. No warnings from the traffic feature because it was not available in that state. When I got to the Scranton, PA site the traffic alerts started working. It alerted me of a major traffic scrape ahead and it even rerouted my inch automatically. The reroute would have been a valuable addition in miles but would be worth it to avoid the traffic, proper? I decided to ignore the re-route unbiased to test the unit to behold if the alert was true and I was willing to endure the traffic. As I drove my modern route, no traffic anywhere. So had I listened to the traffic alert, I would have driven 50 miles out of my plan for nothing. Bottom line is, don't let the traffic feature be a deal breaker for the unit you resolve. But then again, I got the 1350T for about the same brand as the 1350 #same unit without traffic) . Updating the plan was more difficult than it should have been. I believe myself a very technical person with computers and gadgets but the method update did not go smoothly and took me several tries. I could seek where many people will have misfortune with this if they attempt to update the intention.

The 1350T is the second Garmin GPS unit I've passe, and it's far generous. It keeps up with me in the city and very swiftly recalculates the route if I compose a ghastly turn. The lane abet feature is also very useful and gives me fleet, visual confirmation when I near multi-lane intersections. I bought the 1350T for this lane help feature, and I'm blissful I did.

After reading mixed reviews I decided to give this unit a try. Coming from a Lowrance Iway 500c, I was looking for the newer sirfstar III receiver as well as faster routing and quicker satellite acquisition. The LG excelled at all three.

- Sizable satellite acquisition times, about 5 min for the first icy inaugurate and then almost instantaneous for subsequent reconnections. The unit has a sleep feature which seems to keeps the unit on similar to that of a laptop without having to reload maps, the OS, etc.

- Rapidly routing takes under 5 seconds for the initial destination. If you miss a turn, the unit reroute swiftly enough to gain the next turn. Likewise, the logic of the system is magnificent qualified, which will select to on a different route if optimal rather than trying to catch you to U-turn succor.

- Very right dwelling plotting compared to my worn GPS. I was impressed by the system mapping me on which lane direction i was traveling (North vs South, etc) and the maps included even the runt police-only paths located in the medians.

- The prove and speaker both seemed lacking at first in terms of brightness and sound quality, but upon actually utilize on a 2 day waddle in the NY/NJ/PA set and over 300 miles of driving I found that everything worked well. The hide once located about 2-3 feet away on the windshield looks more than acceptable and the speaker works astronomical once you secure venerable to what it sounds like and to somewhat listen for it if you are blasting your music. The layout is simple yet effective, showing your distance to next turn, and the unit doesnt annoying advise commands from too far away (go straight for 10 miles, 5 miles, then 2 miles etc) .

For the tag and the features you cant go dismal. No GPS is perfect -- the garmins Nuvi's dont have multistop routing and the TomTom One unruffled uses Teleatlas maps. Both are more expensive and dont include text-to-speech which makes it a difficult comparison. Going to their next series with advanced features adds on another $200-300 or nearly double the cost. Give the LG a chance and I assume you will be pleasantly surprised.

I bought this unit when it first came out, because it has the TMC (FM traffic update) built in and a 4-inch veil for considerable less than the Garmin. Before this I bought the TOMTOM One.

Overall, this unit has been expedient. It does what the box says it does... But here are my improvements...

1. The procedure is peaceful 2006 even though it was released in 2007. (the TOMTOM had a newer intention)

2. Points of Interest (POI) - lets you net spots by category, either come destination or novel site. An option for along the route would be salubrious. Also...sometimes it is hard to figure what category something is in. there is no general search by company name. (It does however have a nice feature that I can click on say Starbucks, and it shows all the Starbucks as I drive by them - kind of nice)

3. When in the menus, you have to hold backing out to glean support to the draw (sometimes several clicks while driving) . It would be nice to have one button to go serve to the procedure.

4. When it calculates routes... I am not positive the logic takes into tale turns. It often has me making more lefts and rights than is needed.

5. Traffic updates... it automatically recalculates routes to advoid traffic, but I accept the feeling it does not advoid traffic congestion until it is with 3-5 miles. On long routes where I could lift two freeways... one is closed. It has me buy the closed on then, I inspect it changes the route when I advance the closed piece of the freeway, instead of in the beginning.

So... I am not obvious how this compares to other units. I only had the TOMTOM for a day, but it needed a wireless internet connection from a PDA or something to rep traffic updates. If you have a wireless connection or don't want the traffic feature, I like the TOMTOM better. Otherwise, this is a obedient unit for the tag.

I purchased the LN740 for my wife about a year ago, and we've been generally contented with the features and performance, particularly given the extreme cost - that is, until I tried to update the installed maps.

When I took a ride to Pennsylvania last week, I found that the unit was directing me to exits, and would then "lose" the roadway, makeing it ogle as though we were driving off the road, as the highway system had been recently modified.

Figuring it was time to update the plot info for the unit, I contacted LG for info on how to update, expecting that they'd provide me with a web link to download updated maps. Instead, they e-mailed me a phone number to call, whereupon I was told that the only draw to update the maps was to recall a CD for $99!

If you feel that kind of ticket for an update is warranted for a $200 navigation system, then I won't try to disuade you from purchasing an LN740. The next time that I'm looking for a portable nav system, though, the cost and ease of updating maps will be one of the first things that I explore at, and it's doubtful that LG will be one of the brands I stare at.

By Ernie, Retired Journeyman Lineman. The XP4400E is well worth the extra cost over the XP4400, as starter rope must be pulled out at an angle.

This is an fine generator for the money. The voltage regulation is gracious. Extraordinary output for it's size along with being very quite for the output that it has. The discription Amazon has for it is immense, so many items are not discribed well enough. There is a couple points I want to portion with show owners and would be owners.

(1) The voltage selector switch not only changes the voltage monitor 120 to 240 but it's main function is tap changing, this being the reason it must not be switched unless breaker is off (launch) or generator shut down. It parallels the two power windings when spot for 120 to the 120 sockets and the 120-240 socket. You can device elephantine capacity fron the 120 sockets or at the 120-240 socket from terminals Bu & R, the W terminal has no voltage so 240 is not available now. (Refer to owners manual wiring design page 23 or 24)

Set for 240 the switch series the two power windings and now the 120 sockets have only one power winding applied and so half capacity is available here, 1750 watts from either one but only 875 watts each if both are outmoded. The 120-240 socket now has both windings in series and now has 240 from terminal W to Terminal R and will have two 120 circuits, one from terminal W to terminal Bu and the other 120 circuit from Bu to R. Elephantine capacity is available with the 240 voltage and half capacity from each of the 120 circuits. (Bu is the accepted terminal to both sockets)

(2) It isn't specified the engine has a steel cyinder sleeve and I don't deem it does as I hurry it for 6 hrs. and changed oil and the oil in the drain pan was resplendent well loaded with aluminum and silicon swirling around. I will change again after 12-14 hrs. and then every 20 then on. A filter would have been a boon for engine life, but be diligent and change oil often and it will speed a long time.

I judge some have gotten generators and done them in early because they didn't change oil in time. Very, Very distinguished because the cyinder is aluminum and no oil filter. More power to all, Ernie Wireman

Machine would not gain power.After calling company and recieving instruction to check inside of gen unit to be assured that all wires were connected. After finding one of the legs from the AVR not connected and correcting this, unit has operated top flight, very unruffled and handling the load very gracious We are well gay with the lift and hope to experience many years of service

This product exceeded all expectations. It came packed better than anything that I have had shipped to my house. I like the key starter and the handles plus the ability to charge a car battery. If you live anywhere that the electricity is supplied by Baltimore Gas & Electric Company, this is a life saver. We have lost power 8 times this year therefore a generator is a necessity not a luxury.
