After a lot of research I decided to go with the Denon AVR890. I recently location up my media room with a HD projector and have a 105" cloak and wanted something that could upconvert everything to 1080p. I am extremely tickled with this AV receiver as I can urge unbiased one HDMI cable from the receiver to the projector and it upconverts everything.
A few downsides I have is the imprint compared to other brands, I mediate I could have gotten more for the money, but hey it's a denon. No THX, which I aged to expend to optimize my system. Also not jubilant with the pre-outs, you cannot spend room B Pre-outs and 7.1 surround at the same time (cannot exhaust the aid 2 surround speakers when in zone 2 mode) . I have no clue why, considering the pre out does not employ the built in amp power. It's not nearly as loud as my extinct Kenwood KRF-X9070D, which I though was 100w x 6 channels, but somehow can also be 130w x 6, which it must have been.
On an upside it doesn't pick up nearly as hot, and has yet to auto-shut off as the dilapidated kenwood would.
Overall, I rated it with 4 stars because it does impartial what I bought it to do. I am very elated with this as a surround receiver, but unruffled belief on using my veteran kenwood in my basement game room for as my "Stereo" since I cannot expend my Infinity SM 155 (15" woofer, 2 4.5" mids, and tweater) speakers the diagram they were ment to be veteran with the Denon. (Thats why I wanted the pre outs to work on the denon, because I have 2 separate Kenwood Amps "KMF X9000" which can be bridged to set aside out 270w each, and the speakers are rated for up to 300w) .
Hence, me not being jubilant about the pre out state or lack of power.
If I had to do it over again I would mild have chosen the Denon AVR 890, as it's a sizable surround receiver.
RE: Also tried to adjust the front speaker level in the manuel setting which can be adjusted from -12dB to +12dB. I got a lot more volume out of the front speakers when I fair wanted to listen to music, but anything over plus 8 the reciever would have distortion / nick out the higher frequencies even with the volume situation at -2dB or higher.
I am smooth learning about this receiver and highly reccomend looking through the user manuel if you never owned a Denon before. Calm learning about a lot of features. Also objective realized the remote has a screen on the abet side with a lot more options.
I purchased a Bose V-20 and after several weeks I returned it because it unprejudiced didn't seem to have power I wanted. I exchanged the Bose for the Denon 890 and got abet over a $1,000. The Denon has 5 HDMI inputs which I found very useful. I fancy the sound I salvage. It unprejudiced took a long time to earn everything to work the draw I wanted. The user manual is very difficult to understand and the remote is almost as poor. I tranquil haven't figured out how to exercise everything on the remote. I have no understanding what all the buttons on the serve of the remote is for. I had to acquire several adjustments to the front center speaker to score fine volume. I'm also confused about how to hook up my amp. I judge I got it working properly, but quiet haven't figured out how to net more bass out of it. Like I said the user manual is not distinguished befriend. The HDMI is very easy to employ and I can hook up my Blu ray DVD and Utter TV DVR with ease. I like this system powerful better than the Bose V-20 and for the mark it is distinguished better. There are several downsides like trying to figure out how to net all my FM stations to work. After some experimenting I finally got it to work. I also can't obtain ample volume from my IPOD dock - I really have to crank up the volume on the Denon to secure the sound I want. I consider I might have to utilize the Denon Dock which costs over $100. Overall I'm gratified with the system. It does a grand job once you figure out how to consume it. This isn't a system that is easy to position up - at least for me. I am joyful with the power and sound.
